THE WHOLE STORY

Barbara Bostock is not just an artist and photographer; she is a soul deeply intertwined with the cowboy way of life. She seizes every opportunity to encapsulate the authenticity of this lifestyle, from the rolling hills to the majestic mountaintops, and along the gently gurgling creeks and roaring rivers. Her camera is her brush, subtly painting the breathtaking beauty that surrounds us.

Barb's philosophy echoes the words of the renowned photographer Ansel Adams, who once said, "You don't take a photograph, you make it." Come, and witness these moments frozen in time, each scene captured with precision as if framed through the ears of her horse.

Barbara's journey began in the lower mainland of B.C., where her family started with farming and later moved to the Merritt area to embrace ranching. It was during this time that she fell head over heels in love with photography in the context of the Western lifestyle. Initially, she snapped pictures to share with her loved ones. After moving to Alberta in the late 80s and raising her family, it was only in recent years that she rekindled her connection with a camera. Her three profound passions encompass capturing the astonishing beauty of nature and wildlife, working cattle, and riding her beloved horses.

Most of her photographs come to life while she's on horseback. The freedom to ride, pause, and absorb the stunning landscapes, capturing the very essence of her thoughts, has become her art. Sharing these glimpses of beauty with the world has driven her love for Western lifestyle photography. In the past two years, her focus has shifted toward capturing the wild horses of southern Alberta.
